I try to slow time down.
I take deep breaths and slow the clutter in my mind.
I try to focus on the every day things that we all tend to let slip by.
And yet, time still passes too quickly.
I've spent the week writing.
Yes, there have been distractions.
Celebrity deaths. Rattlesnakes in the yard.
Dead ends on research. Research that panned out and thus needed celebration.
But today is Sunday. Time for Lil' Velvet's obedience lesson.
Time to wander in the garden with a cup of tea.
Time to watch a coyote on the hillside, as he makes his way home from a night of drunken revelry.
Today, I don't need to work so hard at slowing time down.
It just comes naturally.

Come Dance With Me
It's an adventure.
A new beginning, of sorts.
Down a road I've never traveled before.
Who am I?
No one. Probably just like you.
But I'm tired of doing what I do. Tired of getting nowhere fast, on a path that leads in circles.
Where will we go?
I'm not really sure.
Let's just start by putting one foot in front of the other.
I doubt that it will be a straight line.
It will probably zig and zag and cross itself more than a few times.
But what do we have to lose?
Come.
Take my hand.
We'll start with a slow waltz.
When we discover our rhythm we can move faster.
Can you feel the music?
